Mr Meatball re-looks at Space, Pirates and Zombies (Played on PC Win)
(Un)Life is hard for a zombie pirate in space. The women are cold, and the grog is frozen. Not to mention those fusion blaster turrets, constantly burning through your rotten limbs. SPAZ is a top down real-time space strategy game. Its been out for some time now, but it’s still a good game. Granted it can feel a bit tedious sometimes, and the difficulty is murderous in the beginning. Still worth a playthrough, if you haven’t checked it out yet.

Mr Meatball re-looks at Intrusion 2 (Played on PC Win)
Old school side-scrolling platforming action adventure physics-based shooter. With rideable mutated terror-wolves, and depressed mechs with ultraswords. Feels more or less like Contra, especially the epic boss fights. The physics are a bit wonky, but other then that: Great game.

Mr Meatball previews Path of Exile (Played on PC Win)
Old school (think D2) hack n’ slasher. Free to play, but according to the developers this will not be a pay2win; meaning mostly cosmetic items. God I hope that’s the case. By the way I DID notice the shop changes in Dark Blood Online, my look was before that happened. This is definately enjoyable (one of my favourite words). Some balancing issues remain, and some people aren’t too fond of the graphics. They are okey in my opinion. The art style is very dark and gritty of course, definately more gothic than D3. The difficulty seems to have boosted from previous builds, which is good. I had some trouble with my ranger sometimes, especially against necromancers and teleporting swashbucklers. Might be just that class, or that I was doing something wrong. Well anyways, keep a lookout for this one, and sign up for the beta. EDIT: Of course I meant I finished the first difficulty setting, there are several. Also it would seem a limited real cash shop is online *running to the hills*

Mr Meatball previews AirMech (Played on PC Win)
Transformers thingies. A MOBA game. Very fast paced and arcadey. Oh my poor nerves. But there’s co-op so there’s something for everyone. Currently in beta, and free to play. It seems you’ll only need to sign up and play. How glorious ect.

Mr Meatball previews BattleZone: Airhunt (Played on PC Win)
Arcadey shmup featuring Mr. Heli and his friends Homing and Missile. Why can’t I ever be serious? Also, notice the totally relevant screenshot. Game looks cool. Blasting stuff is seldom boring. It’s still alpha so there are naturally bugs and so forth. EDIT: Missile lock-on and firing is available using keyboard and mouse.

Mr Meatball previews Under the Ocean (Played on PC Win)
A survival platformer. Fashion tools and hunt for food, among other things. This is currently in alpha, and looks pretty cool. Avoid the bears by the way. They are immortal.

Mr Meatball previews Starfarer (Played on PC Win)
Top down space strategy game, in real time. Amusing space battles. Think SPAZ, except without zombies. The alpha features lots of stand alone missions, and a limited sandbox mode (a whole galaxy to explore is planned). Still, it’s fun to play around with in the current state.

Mr Meatball looks at Unepic (Played on PC Win)
The great unepic quest, filled with elven underwear and horny goblin ladies. Unepic is a metroidvania, with platforming, RPG mechanics and so on. Despite the tongue in cheek humour the gameplay is indeed serious; challenging but not unfair. It got rejected on Steam for some reason. Now that’s stupid. It’s clear they don’t spend any time with the games during the “evalutation process”. Granted they sprites are a bit tiny, but they have a certain charm. And gamepad support would be kinda awesome (haven’t tried joy2key). Edit: I’m refering to the orc on the left, in the video, in case you got confused.

Mr Meatball looks at Orcs Must Die 2 (Played on PC Win)
Orcs must be smashed, impaled, melted and cut in half. Poor little bastards. Now with co-op. You should play this co-op, becuase in my opinion the new levels aren’t as well designed for a solo player. I’m a harsh bastard ain’t I. Hopefully. With that said, there are lots of content here. For example; 10 levels from the original game, with co-op. That is a nice addition indeed, and somewhat lessens the impact of my criticism. However, I looked at the new story campaign, not the old one.

Mr Meatball looks at Dark Blood Online (Played on PC Win)
A fantasy beat em’ up with RPG elements. This ain’t to shabby, considering it’s free to play. Don’t like f2p? I’m generally a bit skeptical as well. Take a look at the real cash shop, they are only selling cosmetic items (yes I’m counting them as cosmetic). I’ll be playing this a bit more, that’s for sure. Also featuring arena PvP and four classes (knight, hunter, warrior and mage). You should try to find some group play, since at least the first couple of dungeons were a cakewalk for the warrior, in solo play.
